14th Goresy Awards
Welcome to the fourteenth annual Goresy Awards, a personal selection of the best in 2023 cinema! Eligibility requirement: a theatrical or digital commercial U.S. release between January 1 and December 31, 2023 (which includes films with those irritating one-week NY/LA Oscar-qualifying runs). You may notice a few films mentioned here that I didn’t catch in time to include in my year-end list (notably, Perfect Days and Menus Plaisirs – Les Troisgros). This year there are two new categories, Directorial Debut and Soundtrack. Onto the selections!
